Who We Are

Pacific Yearly Meeting (PacYM) is a regional body of unprogrammed Quakers, bringing together Meetings and individual Friends across California, Hawaiʻi, Nevada, and Mexico City. The PacYM community includes Friends connected through local Meetings and Worship Groups, as well as Friends who participate directly in the life of the Yearly Meeting.

Our Meetings & Worship Groups

Local Meetings and Worship Groups are at the heart of Quaker life in Pacific Yearly Meeting, gathering Friends for worship, spiritual nurture, fellowship, discernment, and shared concerns and leadings.

Monthly Meetings in California and Nevada are also connected through one of PacYM’s two Quarterly Meetings: College Park Quarterly Meeting and Southern California Quarterly Meeting. Meetings in Hawaiʻi and Mexico City are part of Pacific Yearly Meeting without affiliating with a Quarterly Meeting.

PacYM also holds in its care Friends who are not currently affiliated with a local Meeting or Worship Group but who participate in the life and work of the Yearly Meeting.

Our Life Together

Pacific Yearly Meeting provides ways for Friends from across the region to connect, collaborate, share concerns, and carry forward work that reaches beyond their local Meetings and Worship Groups.

Much of this shared life is carried through committees, officers, working groups, and other forms of service. Friends also come together at Annual Session and other gatherings throughout the year.

Connected with Friends Beyond PacYM

Pacific Yearly Meeting is part of a wider network of Quaker organizations and communities. PacYM maintains these relationships in several ways — by appointing Friends to serve as representatives or liaisons, participating in gatherings and programs, and providing financial support to organizations whose work connects with our shared concerns and purposes.

PacYM also shares a particularly close relationship with Western Friend, which is published by Friends Bulletin Corporation, an independent nonprofit established jointly by Pacific, North Pacific, and Intermountain Yearly Meetings. Western Friend helps build practical and spiritual connections among Friends in the West through its magazine, website, events, and other programs.

Faith & Practice

PacYM’s book of Faith and Practice reflects the experience of Friends in Pacific Yearly Meeting. It describes our worship, spiritual foundations, ways of discernment, and the structures and processes through which Friends care for our shared life.
