Note: This calendar includes select Ben Lomond Quaker Center workshops of particular interest to teens and young adults. All BLQC workshops are open to interested Friends of any age, and childcare can be arranged by request. See quakercenter.org for full listings. Quaker Center offers Meeting and individual annual passes that include both camps and workshops.

Winter 2020

December

  • Dec. 12: The Quake that Rocked the Continent. FGC’s first Youth Summit! From 10 am – 7 pm PST, split into 3 sessions with 90 minute breaks in between. Registration required.

Fall 2020

November

  • November 7-8: SCQM Gathering (online). Theme: “Hearts Breaking Open, Breathing into the Gap Between Reality and Possibility” with keynote Wess Daniels. More info / registration here. There will be a Children’s Program but no teen program.

October

  • October 16-18: CPQM Gathering (online). Theme “Walking Together in the Light”.
  • Children’s Program
    • Oct. 16, 7:00-7:30 (Family Worship)
    • Oct. 17, 3:30-5:00pm (CP Session I)
    • Oct. 18, 10:00-11:30am (CP Session II)

Summer 2020

August

  • August 3, 7:30PM-9:30PM: YAF Gathering (online)
    • Threshing session with Quaker Center Director about offer and possibility of mutual aid/living and working spaces at QC.
  • Dates TBD-YAF Packing and Camping trips
    • We welcome new and younger YAFs especially! Email the YPC with your date preferences if you’re interested in attending one of these trips (we aim to have 5 trips total with about 5 people per trip, to take place in both Northern & Southern CA).

July (all online)

  • July 22,6:00PM-10:00PM: JYM Business Meeting
  • July 20,6:00PM-10:00PM: JYM Alternatives to Violence (AVP) Workshop
  • July 18,6:00PM-10:00PM: JYM Respectful Relations, led by Young Adult Friends
  • July 17, 7:30PM-9:30PM: YAF Gathering. Worship sharing and maybe some games!
  • July 16,6:00PM-10:00PM: JYM Introductions & Icebreakers, led some by AVP facilitators
  • July 12, 7:00PM-8:30PM: YPCC Interest Group
    • Discussing the mutual aid network YAFs have initiated in our yearly meeting. We welcome anyone interested in learning more, or becoming part of our support network!
  • July 11, 7:00PM-8:30PM: JYM & YAFs lead intergenerational games
  • July 10, 8:30PM-10:30PM: YAF Gathering (Introductions, Icebreakers & Check-Ins)
  • July 10, 9:30AM-12:30PM (with breaks): Children’s Program.
  • Tuesday Evenings 6:30 – 8:00pm: YAF Early Friends Writings Book & Worship Group

June

  • June 27-July 4: Friends General Conference (online). More information and registration here.
  • June 13: SCQM Children’s Program (online), 9:30am – 12:00pm. Email the YPC to register and for additional information.
  • June 6: SCQM Online Workshop, 10:00am – 12:00pm . Keynote speaker Mary Watkins on “Weaving the Fabric of Our Lives Through Mutual Accompaniment .“
  • Tuesday Evenings 6:30 – 8:00pm: YAF Early Friends Writings Book & Worship Group

May

  • May 23: CPQM Gathering (online) There will be both teen and children’s programs for this event. Theme: “Shall We Gather at the River?”

  • January 24-26, 2020: Young and Old for Climate Justice with George Lakey (Ben Lomond Quaker Center, CA)
    • As young people go on strike, demand divestment from fossil fuels, and urge a Green New Deal, we invite Friends and others motivated to open a dialogue.
  • January 18-19: Young Adult Friends Camping Trip (Joshua Tree, CA)
