Keenan Lorenzato the Youth Programs Coordinator and his supervising committee seek to create opportunities for youth to explore Quakerism, practice community service, connect with one another and intergenerationally, and find their paths in community. This is done by supporting regular gatherings of Friends (Quakers) like quarterly meetings, and through specific programming like Quaker Center Camps or the El Salvador Intercultural learning trip. We also provide more organic community building events such as the Mt Diablo Family Campout and Young Adult Backpacking trips.

Youth Fund Grants
The Youth Fund Grant program supports youth lead Quaker events across the yearly meeting. These grants can help create new Quaker projects or events, can support Friends traveling to Quaker events, or can help cover the cost of attendance at events and camps.
Young Adult Wilderness Trips
This year we’re happy to announce plans for two Campouts and one backpacking trip. The first Campout is June 13-15th at Mt Diablo State Park reserve your spot here. The other two trips are pending reservations and registration forms but we’ll keep you updated here and on our youth pages.
Quaker Center Camps
A small sleepaway camp in the redwoods for ages 9-14 that teaches some basic elements of Quakerism in a campy style. A perfect place for kids to dip a toe into a welcoming and friendly community.
El Salvador Intercultural Learning Trip
Build connections with communities in El Salvador through 10 days of immersive experiences. Play games and hear personal stories from El Salvadoran youth and elders. Experience a rural homestay, hike to waterfalls, take Spanish lessons. Learn about the history of the Salvadoran Civil War and the current state of El Salvador. Engage in meaningful service work related to permaculture, education, and sustainable development. Process your experiences through intentional small-group reflections. Visit rural areas, the capital San Salvador, the mountains, and the beach!
Intergenerational Work Camps
Both Sierra Friends Center (Woolman) and Ben Lomond Quaker Center offer family work camps. These are a truly intergenerational weeklong gathering for families to come together and give back to the centers while making new friends and memories. Check out their websites for more info.
